Prince Georges African American Museum & Cultural Center


The mission of PGAAMCC is to celebrate and inspire the Community through the cultivation, preservation, and presentation of the cultural and artistic contributions of African American diasporas in Prince George’s County, Maryland and beyond.


The ‘Unapologetically Black Weekend’ (June 21-June 23 2019) is a weekend of art and cultural events. On Friday, movie screenings in PGAAMCC’s outside art pavilion. Saturday brings the museum’s ‘More Than a Month Festival,’ which will include performances from local musicians and performance artists, will engage audiences through community mural making, and will invite local vendors and food trucks. On Sunday, artist Tawny Chatmon leads a day of empowering young girls through a community collage session. Chatmon’s photography tackles issues of Black girls identity through empowering imagery.
