Shanna Lim is a veteran of the DMV arts and performance scene and has watched her community rise, fall, gentrify, and never give up. As a visual performance artist; installation, dance, body paint, and theatre are utilized to drive human connection. Her work gears to benefiting and creating awareness of world-wide problems, give hope and shake you up a bit if necessary. Her work is driven by the inquisitive, the strange, and the rawness of humanity. She sees herself as a vessel for human social structural research and believes in the aesthetic that the human body is a tool for endless expressiveness and concentrated communication. Shanna takes pride in creating a powerful presence, making the audience necessary to the arc of the story, and showing the priceless value of being unique & strange because we all possess a little of both. As an artist working across various mediums; Shanna is an established body painter having done work for Cirque Du Soleil and The Shakespeare Theatre. Shanna is an arts educator for WBL, YITA, Music in Me Foundation, and former guest artist in residence at D&E College. Works have been presented or commissioned throughout the DMV area including Light City Baltimore, Art All Night, the Newseum, Embassy of Sweden, Art Soiree, Nuit Cirque, OMI, Catharsis on the Mall, Escape Artist Gallery, San Ramon theatre arts festival, and the Filmore.
